Physiatry in Europe is a relatively new Discipline and it is precisely for this reason it has vigorous and young roots. Its taproot - which as always in Medicine is part science, part research, a craftsman-like experience in the field, much inspection of human relationships with people and critical reflection – which highlights the duality of the “Physical” component, meaning attention to the whole physical environmental context which interacts positively or negatively with the Person and her problems, and the “Rehabilitative” component, meaning the finalised aim of every intervention.
The two components of this duality combine even better, referring as one to the Person in its globality, strengthening each other in research and in clinical practice. In the current transformation of health care demands they are showing their maximum potential and their enormous intrinsic value. A value so deeply different to other medical disciplines, related only to different functions or body parts.
European PRM Doctors must be aware and proud of these responsibilities and tasks.
And we know that these GOALS are achievable only if we work together in all European Countries: ESPRM must be active as best as possible.
This Newsletter offers a tool to keep in contact, to be aware, to take part, to construct together a better FUTURE !
